Word From The Principal

Dear Parents and Students,

At Quebec High School, we aspire to be the best place for students to:

Learn

Our dedicated teaching and support staff work diligently to offer a stimulating, safe learning environment for our students. Teachers continue to innovate, constantly finding new ways to engage their students. We offer a varied curriculum with options at every level such as: woodworking, ceramics, robotics, home economics and gym. Languages are an essential skill and students can choose between French Mother Tongue, French Second Language Enriched or the Core French programs. We have excellent success rates in English Language Arts and we can honestly say that when our students graduate, they are bilingual. They also have the opportunity to take Spanish as an option and participate in cultural exchanges or trips to Mexico and South America. Math, Science and the Social Sciences are at the core of our curriculum and our students continue to perform well on the provincial exams.

Play

At QHS we have a strong sports tradition. Year after year, we compete with the best in the region in Soccer, Basketball, Rugby and Track and Field. What makes the difference is that our coaches are teachers or alumni that not only teach skills but sportsmanship. We encourage all students to come out and play for the Blazers.

Create

At QHS we strive to help students develop their creativity. Being creative and taking risks leads to self-confidence. Whether it’s through dance, drama, music or the visual arts, students have the opportunity to create original work, perform on stage, speak in front of their peers or record their own music. Experiences they will remember for a lifetime.

Connect

It is important for our students to be active members of their community. We want them to learn about who they are and develop their leadership skills. They can get involved in numerous clubs, volunteer for community events and activities and participate in leadership camps. Through our homeroom advisory program, mentorship initiative and welcoming events, we ensure a smooth transition between elementary and high school. We also provide the opportunity for our students to connect with the world with up-to-date technology in the classroom and in the hands of the students. IPads are made available to all students and we have implemented a 1:1 iPad initiative in secondary 1.

Discover

Students learn through experience and at QHS we provide students at every grade level opportunities to travel and discover the world we live in. In the past 2 years, students have been on exchanges and trips to B.C., Alberta, Newfoundland, Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Mexico and Peru. As you can see, Quebec High School has a lot to offer. So we encourage parents, students, staff and community members to continue to support our students and the QHS community. We all benefit from our collective efforts at providing a stimulating, safe, dynamic learning environment. QHS will continue to strive to be the best place for students to learn, play, create, connect and discover.
